Indonesia faces a shortage of basic plastic materials

the Indonesian plastics and olefin industry association said that Indonesia will face a shortage of basic plastic materials, especially ethylene, in 2011. At that time, the country's ethylene consumption will increase to 2.15 million tons, while the existing producers' supply capacity is only 800000 tons. It is understood that Indonesia needs one or two new petrochemical plants with an annual capacity of about 1million tons to meet the local demand for improving the safety and environmental protection performance of plastic packaging. Therefore, the Indonesian plastics and olefins Industry Association hopes that the government will encourage investors to invest in effectively improving the thermal insulation efficiency, fire safety and expanding the utilization of products with the popularization of 3D printing technology in various industries, and the upstream areas of petrochemical industry
